The Oyster Bay Historical Society: Preserving Our Past ... Protecting Our Future

The websites listed on this page deal with the history of the eighteen villages comprising the modern-day Town of Oyster Bay, and with its many tourist attractions. Although we have tried to be inclusive, there are still important places and groups which are not yet "on the web". To find their addresses and phone numbers, browse the websites in our first section below -- "Background, lists and statistics".

Websites especially useful to tourists are listed in italics. Those offering online information nourishing to students of history are listed in bold type.

We have not listed otherwise relevant websites that fall into two categories:

  • Websites relating to tourist accommodations (hotels, restaurants, and shops) and websites of a commercial nature can be found for Oyster Bay in particular through the Oyster Bay, Long Island website, and for Long Island in general through the Long Island Convention and Visitors Bureau.
  • Websites dealing with local genealogy can be found by starting with the Nassau and Suffolk sites of the NYGenWeb Project, the New York part of the USGenWeb Project. The maintainers of these sites, LaRae Halsey-Brooks her daughter Eireann Brooks, are extraordinarily diligent and meticulous; the resources they provides are all you're ever likely to need!

If you have just posted a website -- or know of a site -- which belongs on our list, please contact us by Email.
