[Letter of
Rachel Weeks of Farmingdale to "Friend" (S. J. Underhill?).
1852.]
Farmingdale Dec 2nd 152
Dear Friend,
By the request of Thomas A. Mitchell's sisters & the approval
of his Aunt Ann Moubray, I have applied to a school teacher Andrew
L. Foot now at Atlanticville to board and teach him - We think he
is a good teacher he has taught in our district and expects in 2
mo. to commence a boarding school.
He has written to me twice upon the subject in the first letter he
stated that he would like to take Thomas Andrew when he commences
his boarding school - so we may infer from this that he don't care
to board him now, but he thinks there is a place where he can have
board.
The second letter he wrote me I inclose with the one I write you.
For the purpose of getting your opinion and for you to decide
whether he had better go for the two months under the circumstances
that the teacher has written or not. And whether he had better go
with him after he commences his boarding school.
Please inform me what your opinion is concerning the matter by the
return of
Thomas
Andrew.
PS If it suits you to pay of those bills please seal up the money
in an invelope on paper And if you like have it left with me. They
probably will be here soon and I will give it to them. If it does
not suit I will keep the bills you can call here
Respectfully Yours, Rachel Weeks
